2023-2024 Groundwater Useage Fee

  Omochumne-Hartnell Water District is the local agency charged with implementing the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) within its boundaries. Those responsibilities include the preparation and implementation of groundwater sustainability plans for the underlying basin, groundwater monitoring, and tasks associated with carrying out this state-mandated regulatory effort in the basin. 

In 2021, after appropriate notice and hearing, the District adopted a Groundwater Sustainability Fee of $10.00 per irrigated acre to fund these efforts. The charge is collected on the Sacramento County Property Tax rolls (refer to your prior tax bills for the line item entitled “Omochumne Hartnell Water District Groundwater Usage Acreage Fee”). 

For the 2024-2025 tax year, this charge will be billed on the landowner's property tax bill from the County of Sacramento.
